As part of our exhibition project at the Gewandhaus Leipzig 2022, we invite composer Ethan Braun to discuss his music, Shostakovich’s formalism, and student projects.
Ethan Braun is a composer based in Los Angeles. His music occurs in the concert hall, the stage, and the gallery, involving electronic media, acoustic instruments, video, and theatre. His works have been presented by such institutions as Carnegie Hall, The Los Angeles Philharmonic, Hebbel-am-Ufer Theater (Berlin, DE), Kampnagel (Hamburg, DE), The Shed (NYC), and the Shanghai Symphony. He studied at UCLA, Peabody Conservatory, the Royal Conservatory of The Hague, and Yale University, where he finished doctorate in music composition.
